Can’t get enough of personal finance or financial independence? Over the past few years I’ve jumped into personal finance working to expand my knowledge and soak up as much information. Today we have information around the world at our fingertips, from books (which you can find recommendations here!), to podcasts, YouTube videos, and blogs. Blogs are what we’ll cover today and I’d like to share with you a few that I like to read.
These will be from individuals with varying backgrounds and paths as they find (or found) their way to Financial Independence. When looking for a blog there are a few key items I look for on topics and readability. Blogs should be approachable, humble, and show changes that we all can make in small incremental manners. It would be far from helpful for someone to recommend you simply stop eating to cut food costs. Blogs should cover a variety of topics, in one day I can go from reading about living frugal and focusing on what’s important to learning about someone’s story on early retirement. Here’s a quick list of some of my favorite blogs (in no particular order!).
Blogs
Budgets Are Sexy – J$ runs a fantastic blog covering all types of financial topics. He bounces from topic to topic in an entertaining and very approachable manner.
All About Interest – This blog primarily focuses on dividend growth investing into specific stocks. He also focuses on real-estate investing and being a landlord. This is a great site to learn about having multiple streams of income as you work towards retirement.
Physician On Fire – For the medical folks out there. We’ve all seen, heard, or known the amount of debt someone can gather in the medical field. This blog covers how to live smart and clear out student loans for anyone. There are also calculators for everything (like..everything).
Financial Samurai – This guy wrote the book on engineering your layoff and being financially smart in high cost of living areas. Sam retired after a career in finance living in New York and later on San Francisco.
Mr. Money Mustache – Retiring early and living frugally is what you will find here. After you’ve covered the blog posts going back years, hop on the forum.
The Frugal Girl – If you would like to learn about frugal living and how you can save money in your day to day life this is the place to be. It’s the little changes that have large effects in life.
Financially Alert – You will find loads of information on financial independence (including great interviews on people who have worked their way to F.I.). You’ll also find great information on side hustles, recommendations, and how to start a blog.
1500 Days – A blog about a couple focused on FIRE and were able to set themselves up to call themselves retired. Now they spend their time teaching others about FIRE, life, travel, and more.
These are only a few I read, but there are many, many more blogs out there with great information. If you still want more here’s a list of 25 blogs to check out.
Thanks for reading! What are some of your favorite blogs?
